For this hike take the tram line 2 to the last station, “Kleinzschachwitz”, followed by a short ferry ride across the river Elbe. You start close to the Castle Pillnitz, which was build in an asian stile for countess Constantia of Cosel. You’ll leave the shores of the river behind and walk up to the edge of the valley. Following the paths on top of it you will get some amazing views of the city of Dresden. I was actually surprised of this route. You think it is pretty urban and basically inside the city, but no. Yeah you’ll come by a couple of houses but mainly, you pass through thick woods, no civilization in sight. And you’ll finish at the stunning “Blaues Wunder” bridge.
